To preserve your skin, adhere to this 5-step skincare routine

When areas of the skin begin to darken, it's known as pigmentation or hyperpigmentation. It happens when the overproduction of melanin, which gives your skin its color, begins. Things like direct sun exposure, hormonal fluctuations, acne scars, and even aging cause uneven skin tone, dark spots, or hyperpigmentation.

1. Cleansing- The first and most important step in any skincare regimen is cleansing the skin. To get rid of debris, extra oil, and pollutants, as well as to keep your pores clear and your skin from becoming lifeless, use a mild yet efficient cleanser.

2. Apply serum- Use a serum that targets pigmentation, especially after cleaning the skin. Concentrated active components included in serums aid in the reduction of dark spots, skin tone, and melanin production.

3. Hydrate- A moisturized skin barrier acts as a barrier and aids in pigmentation treatment. The skin barrier can be strengthened by using a moisturizer that helps seal in moisture, repair damage, and lessen skin irritation.

4. Use sunscreen- One of the main causes of pigmentation is exposure to the sun. Melanin production is stimulated by direct UV exposure, which darkens already black spots and makes new ones more noticeable.

5. Exfoliate- Exfoliation is essential for getting rid of dead skin cells. It accelerates the fading of pigmentation and encourages cell turnover. Exfoliation makes it possible for brightening chemicals to penetrate deeper and function more efficiently by eliminating dead cells. To dissolve dead skin and expose new skin underlying, use mandelic acid, lactic acid, and glycolic acid (AHA).
