Tournament for Women's Tennis starting from March 3
The Maha Urja Nagpur Open, an ITF $25000 women's tennis tournament (W35 Nagpur), is being held in the city from March 3–10 at the Ram Nagar court of the Nagpur District Hard Court Tennis Association (NDHTA).
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday at the SJAN headquarters, tournament directors Dr. Sudhir Bhiwapurkar and Vijay Naidu announced that NDHTA, with the support of the All India Tennis Association and the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association, will hold the Women's ITF $25000.
Maha Urja is the tournament's title sponsor. NDHTA won this competition the first time around, having hosted it successfully in 2022. Players ranked in the top 200 and top 300 of the WTA rankings will travel from all over the world to compete. Rutuja Bhosale, Sahaja Yamalapalli, and Srivalli Bhamedipatti are the Indian players that will be competing for the top spot.
This event, according to NDHTA President Kumar Kale, is a showcase for Nagpur and has elevated the city on the tennis world stage. The NDHTA squad is putting in a lot of effort every day to be ready for the tournament. While the main draw events take place from March 4 to 10, the qualifying draw matches take place on March 3 and 4.
