Traffic Diversions Announced for Independence Day at Futala Lake

Nagpur, India: To ensure smooth traffic and public safety during Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2024, traffic restrictions will be in place around Futala Lake in Nagpur City. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Nagpur City, has issued a notification outlining the temporary changes.

Every year, a large crowd gathers at Futala Lake to celebrate Independence Day, leading to traffic congestion in the area. To address this issue, the police have decided to reroute traffic as follows:

  1. Wadi Naka to Futala Lake: Traffic coming from Wadi Naka towards Futala Lake will be diverted via the Old Wadi Naka to Ravinagar route. Vehicles coming from Bharatanagar will be redirected via Amravati Road, Ravinagar Mahadev Mandir, and Vayusena Nagar.

  2. Amravati to Nagpur Road: Traffic heading towards Futala Lake from Amravati to Nagpur Road via Campus Chowk will be diverted to Bharatanagar Chowk.

  3. Futala Y-Point to Vada Tree: Vehicles traveling from Futala Y-Point towards the Vada Tree will be rerouted from Telangkhedi Hanuman Mandir or Cycle Chowk via Ambazari Road. Traffic from Ramgiri towards Amravati Road will also be diverted through Cycle Chowk via Ambazari Road.

These restrictions will be in effect from 12:01 AM on August 15, 2024, until midnight the same day.

The police have urged citizens to cooperate and follow the traffic rules to avoid inconvenience. The notification has been widely circulated in the city, including all police stations and public areas, and published in local newspapers.
