Traffic Restrictions Announced for Navratri Festival in Nagpur’s Chitar Oli
Nagpur, India: The city of Nagpur is gearing up for the grand celebration of the Navratri and Durga festival from October 3 to October 12, 2024. As a significant part of the festivities, Chitar Oli, known for its idol-making workshops, will witness a large influx of people placing orders for Durga idols. With the area’s narrow roads and increased traffic, minor accidents and frequent traffic jams are anticipated.
To address these challenges and ensure smooth traffic flow, the Nagpur traffic police have issued an official advisory imposing traffic restrictions in the Chitar Oli area during the festival period. These measures aim to prevent congestion and minimize inconvenience to citizens.
According to the advisory, the following traffic restrictions will be in place from 6:00 AM on October 3, 2024, until 7:00 AM on October 4, 2024:
- One-way traffic will be allowed from Badkas Square to Bhavsar Square via Chitar Oli, while traffic from Bhavsar Square to Badkas Square via Chitar Oli will be prohibited. This route will function as a one-way road during the festival.
- Traffic coming from Bhavsar Square to Chitar Oli will be diverted to Badkas Square via Gandhi Statue Square.
- Traffic between Badkas Square and Shaheed Square will be blocked at Gandhi Statue Square. Vehicles from Badkas Square will be redirected to Agrawal Square, and traffic from Shaheed Square will be diverted to Darodkar Square.
The authorities have also empowered on-duty traffic police officers to reroute traffic as necessary, depending on the situation.
Citizens are urged to cooperate with the traffic regulations and follow the diversions to ensure a hassle-free celebration and avoid traffic-related inconvenience.
These traffic restrictions have been put in place to ensure the safety of residents and smooth movement during the festival season.
