This is 1.78 lakh more than the 2,73,837 cases from the same time last year. This increased enforcement has helped reduce accidents by 22.22% and deaths by 18%, making the roads safer.
The number of violations has gone up, especially helmet-related offences, which more than doubled from 1,55,888 in 2024 to 3,21,304 in 2025. Other violations like wrong-side driving and triple-seat violations also saw a rise. Wrong-side driving cases increased from 1,929 to 3,208, and triple-seat violations went up from 5,770 to 9,756.
Some other violations, such as fancy number plates and black film-related offences, also saw small increases. Drunk driving cases decreased slightly, from 495 in 2024 to 447 in 2025.
The crackdown, led by DCP Archit Chandak and CP Ravinder Singal, has included several important safety measures. These include the Mission Jeevan Raksha initiative, which installed radium barricades on high-speed roads, and stricter night nakabandis with 20 checkpoints set up between 9 PM and 2 AM. Over 4,500 cases were filed under the Footpath Freedom Initiative to remove encroachments and make footpaths safer for pedestrians. Speed-calming measures were also put in place at dangerous spots like Umiya Cutting, Wardha Road, Koradi Road, and Hingna Road.
With the addition of road signs, speed limit boards, and warnings in accident-prone areas, the traffic police’s actions have made a noticeable difference in improving road safety across Nagpur.
