Tragic Accident Near Katol Naka: Grandmother and Grandson Killed
Nagpur, India: A tragic road accident near Katol Naka, Nagpur, on Sunday night led to the deaths of a 50-year-old woman and her 10-year-old grandson, while three others were seriously injured.
The victims were returning to Kalmeshwar after attending a wedding anniversary celebration when a pickup truck crashed into their two-wheeler. The deceased have been identified as Prabhabai Prabhakar Dhanwate (50) and Harsh Nitin Turkar (10).
The accident happened around 11 pm on 16 February. Gautam Vasudevraj Dhanwate (37), who was riding a motorcycle with his wife Trunali (30) and daughter Pranjali (10), was on his way home from the celebration. Meanwhile, his niece Payal Nitin Turkar (30), her son Harsh, and his aunt Prabhabai were travelling on an Activa scooter.
A speeding pickup truck, driven by 27-year-old Navin Ramji Panse, rammed into Payal's scooter. The impact caused the truck to overturn and hit Gautam’s motorcycle as well.
All the victims were rushed to Mayo Hospital and later transferred to the Trauma Center at GMCH. Sadly, despite medical efforts, both Prabhabai and Harsh passed away from their injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck has been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.
