Tragic Paragliding Accident Claims Nagpur Woman's Life in Goa

Nagpur: A 27-year-old woman from Nagpur, Shivani Ishwar Dable, lost her life in a tragic paragliding accident in Goa on January 18. Shivani had traveled to Goa with her friends to celebrate the New Year.

The incident happened at Querim, North Goa, when the rope of the paraglider snapped mid-air, causing Shivani to fall from about 100 feet into a ditch. She was accompanied by the pilot, Suman Nepali, 26, who also died in the crash.

Shivani lived in Vishwakarma Nagar, Nagpur, and was the daughter of Ishwar Dable, a retired nurse from the Super Specialty Hospital. Her body is being brought back to Nagpur via Hyderabad by her father. She is survived by her younger sister.

The Goa Police have blamed Shekhar Raizada, the owner of the paragliding company, for conducting unauthorized adventure activities. He has been booked under charges of culpable homicide.

The Goa Tourism Department confirmed that the paragliding activity at the Keri plateau was illegal and had no official approval. They expressed condolences to the families and stressed the importance of choosing licensed operators for adventure sports.

This incident highlights the need for strict safety measures in adventure sports. Tourists are urged to check the credentials of operators to avoid such tragedies.
