Transport Firm Owner Booked for Culpable Homicide After Porter’s Death
Nagpur, India: Lakadganj Police have booked Rahul Ojha, the owner of Shivshakti Transport, on charges of culpable homicide following the death of a porter who was injured while working at the firm earlier this month.
The porter, Gayaprasad Mehtar Shahu (60), a resident of Jay Santoshi Housing Society, Pardi, suffered a serious head injury on September 5 when a box stored at a height reportedly fell on him while he was on duty at Shivshakti Transport.
Despite receiving treatment at Mayo Hospital, Gayaprasad succumbed to his injuries on September 25. After his death, Gayaprasad’s son, Devkumar, filed a complaint with Lakadganj Police, alleging that the incident occurred due to negligence and lack of safety measures at the workplace.
Rahul Ojha has been charged under Section 304(1) of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
