Turning Point Hotel Owner Arrested for Murder of 25-Year-Old Woman in Ramtek
Nagpur, India: In a disturbing case, Mankapur Police have arrested 57-year-old Mahesh Keshavrao Wadaskar, the owner of Turning Point Hotel in Ramtek, for the murder of 25-year-old Priya Bagde. The murder is believed to have been motivated by Priya’s ongoing blackmail for money.
The investigation began after Priya’s sister reported her missing on August 16. Priya, a resident of Godhani, had gone to meet Wadaskar at his hotel in Ramtek on August 15 but never returned. According to the police, Priya had a history with Wadaskar. The two had previously worked together at Sagar Dairy, and reconnected through Facebook three years ago. Their friendship eventually became strained after Wadaskar allegedly coerced Priya into having an abortion a year ago. Priya then began blackmailing him, demanding money and pressuring him to arrange a marriage for her, leading Wadaskar to plot her murder.
On August 15, Priya visited Wadaskar at his hotel, but later returned home. She made another trip to meet him on August 16, during which Wadaskar allegedly killed her. He then buried her body in a secluded area near Ramtek.
Following Priya's disappearance, Mankapur Police, led by Senior Inspector Swati Jadhav and supervised by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Madane, launched an investigation. They traced Priya’s phone to Wadaskar’s hotel in Ramtek. Upon questioning, Wadaskar initially misled the police but later confessed to poisoning Priya and burying her body four kilometers from Ramtek.
In a dramatic turn, Wadaskar attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison while in police custody but was saved and hospitalized. He has since been discharged. The police plan to exhume Priya’s body for an autopsy and have officially charged Wadaskar with murder.
