Two Bouncers Killed in Road Accident as Bike Collides with NMC Pipe
Nagpur: Tragedy struck early Friday morning when two bouncers lost their lives in a road accident near Automotive Square under the Yashodhara Nagar Police Station jurisdiction. The accident occurred around 3:45 am as their two-wheeler skidded on an uneven road and collided with a Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) pipe placed by the roadside.
The deceased were identified as Lawrence Sammon (32), a resident of Martin Nagar, Jaripatka, and Shankar Pandhari Gudadhe (36), a resident of Mankapur. Both had attended a program in Yashodhara Nagar and were returning home from work.
According to police reports, the two were riding from Vita Bhatti Square towards Automotive Square when the accident occurred. The NMC was in the process of laying a drinking water pipeline in the area, which had made the road surface uneven. As they crossed this stretch, their bike slipped, throwing them into a large pipe placed on the roadside. The top part of the pipe struck both riders on the head, causing severe injuries.
Helmet Could Have Saved Lives
Neither of the riders was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Experts believe that wearing helmets might have significantly reduced the impact and saved their lives.
Passers-by quickly alerted the Yashodhara Nagar police, who rushed the victims to Mayo Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, both men succumbed to their injuries.
A case of negligent driving has been registered, and further investigations are underway. The incident has once again highlighted the importance of wearing helmets and maintaining safer road conditions.
