Two Killed in Separate Flyover Accidents in the City on Saturday
Road accidents continue to be a major problem in the city, with two people losing their lives on Saturday in separate incidents.
In the first accident, a motorcyclist fell off the Pardi flyover between Chikhali Square and HB Town Square and died. Yogeshwar Bhagwat Chute, a 27-year-old man who worked at Bharat Micro Finance and lived in Salangtola village, was heading to Shanti Nagar around 11:30 am after work. His friend Kunal Apurkar, who was riding another motorcycle nearby, said that Yogeshwar’s Honda Shine motorcycle skidded on a turn, hit the parapet wall, and threw him off the bridge. He suffered multiple injuries and died despite being rushed to the hospital. The police have registered a case.
In the second accident, 20-year-old Dolly Deshmukh, from the Bhavani Mata Temple area in Pardi, was killed when her two-wheeler was hit head-on by a speeding vehicle on the Yashodhara Nagar flyover. Dolly was heading home around 4 pm after college during heavy rain when the accident happened. She suffered severe head injuries and died despite efforts to save her. The police are investigating both accidents and have registered a case for negligent driving in Dolly’s case.
