Two Men Drown in Bhagimahari Lake in Parseoni During Lakeside Party

Nagpur, India: A lakeside outing in Nagpur ended in tragedy when two men drowned at Bhagimahari Lake in Parseoni on Sunday afternoon.

Seven friends had travelled to the lake from Nagpur to enjoy their holiday. Among them were Rohit Hiralal Pal, 37, originally from Chhindwara but living at Manewada Square, and Manoj Motiram Gaikwad, 40, a resident of Manewada, Nagpur. Both were employees of the Railways.

While five members of the group stayed on the shore to cook food, Rohit and Manoj decided to go for a swim. Manoj, unaware of the lake’s depth, started drowning. Seeing his friend in trouble, Rohit jumped in to help but was also caught in the deep water. Sadly, both men drowned.

Parseoni Police were alerted, and a search operation was launched with the help of local residents. Rohit’s body was recovered at 6 PM and sent for post-mortem at a rural hospital in Parseoni. However, the search for Manoj had to be called off at 7 PM.

A case of accidental death has been registered, and further search efforts will continue.
