The 55-year-old music legend Ustad Rashid Khan was buried in his hometown of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday. His body was carried to Badaun, where he was given a guard of honor by the local government.
With tears in their eyes, music enthusiasts gave the late performer their final respects. On Thursday, he was laid to rest in the Chote Sarkar cemetery in Badaun.
He passed away in a Kolkata hospital. At Kolkata's Rabindra Sadan, his body was kept on display so that people may pay their respects. Wednesday at Rabindra Sadan, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her cabinet colleagues were among those who paid their respects to the 55-year-old classical vocalist. The West Bengal government gave him a gun salute on Wednesday in Kolkata as part of state honors.
Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan's nephew Rashid Khan was first trained by his maternal grand-uncle, Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan. In addition to his contributions to Indian classical music, he also created a spell in Bollywood with his melancholic hits, which include Allah Hi Reham from the Shah Rukh Khan film and Aaoge Jab Tum O Saajana from the films Jab We Met starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor.
