Victims of Mahal-Hansapuri Arson to Receive ₹7.15 Lakh Compensation

The Department of Revenue and Forest has sanctioned ₹7.15 lakh to compensate victims affected by arson in Mahal and Hansapuri on the night of 17 March. The decision was made after the District Collector submitted a detailed report, leading to the Revenue Department issuing a notification to release the compensation.
The Collectorate acted swiftly by conducting a survey, verifying the damage on-site, and submitting a proposal to the Mantralaya, which quickly approved it. Seven individuals came forward with documents related to damage caused to their personal property and vehicles.
The notification stated that the compensation covers losses caused by riots and stone-pelting in Chitnavispura and nearby areas. The approved compensation includes:

₹20,000 for a partially burnt house.

₹20,000 for two partially gutted shops.

₹80,000 for two damaged autorickshaws.

₹59,000 for 24 two-wheelers, including 11 that were completely burnt.

₹1 lakh for two cranes.

₹3.93 lakh for four four-wheelers, including one that was completely destroyed.

₹5,000 for one injured person.
The notification also mentioned that there is no income limit for receiving compensation. However, those eligible must not have been involved in the riots or have an FIR registered against them related to the incident.
