Vidarbha Clinches Third Ranji Trophy Title After Beating Kerala

Nagpur, India: Vidarbha secured their third Ranji Trophy title after defeating Kerala on the basis of a first-innings lead at the VCA Jamtha Stadium on Sunday. The team, led by Akshay Wadkar, fulfilled their dream after narrowly missing out on the trophy last season.
On the fifth and final day, Vidarbha, already leading by 286 runs, continued to bat until the second session before declaring at 375/9. With Kerala needing 413 runs in just three hours, both teams agreed to end the match, giving Vidarbha the victory based on their 37-run first-innings lead.
This win marks Vidarbha’s third Ranji Trophy triumph, following back-to-back victories in 2017-18 and 2018-19. The team made a strong comeback after losing to Mumbai in last year’s final.
BCCI President Roger Binny handed over the prestigious trophy to captain Akshay Wadkar. The ceremony was attended by BCCI Treasurer Prabhtej Bhaita, VCA President Justice Vinay M Deshpande (Retd.), VCA Secretary Sanjay Badkas, and other officials.
To celebrate the achievement, the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) announced cash rewards for the players in recognition of their outstanding performance.
