Vidarbha Hits 2nd Highest Temperature Hitting 46.7°C in Maharashtra

Nagpur, India- With 'Nautapa' at its peak in Vidarbha, Bramhapuri recorded the highest temperature in Maharashtra on Wednesday, hitting 46.7°C. Nagpur, suffering from severe heat for the past four days, recorded its second-highest temperature of the season at 45.2°C, making it the second hottest place in the state.

On Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an 'Orange Alert' for a heat wave in Nagpur, Wardha, and Chandrapur districts of Vidarbha for May 30. Starting May 31, temperatures in Vidarbha are expected to gradually decrease. The Weather Department predicts thunderstorms with gusty winds across Vidarbha beginning June 4, with pre-monsoon activity likely starting around June 7.

Bhandara and Wardha also recorded temperatures above 45°C on Wednesday, while Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Yavatmal reached 44°C. Other areas in Vidarbha, including Akola, Amravati, and Washim, recorded temperatures above 42°C. The intense summer heat was unbearable across Vidarbha, with no relief expected until June 3.

Night temperatures added to the discomfort, with temperatures across Vidarbha staying above 28°C. Wardha was the hottest at night, with a low of 31.4°C, and Bramhapuri recorded a minimum temperature above 30°C. Unusually for May, the relative humidity in many parts of Vidarbha remained above 50%.
