Vidhu Vinod Chopra Shares Doubts and Success Behind '12th Fail'
Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the filmmaker, recently shared a happy moment about his movie '12th Fail.' He was surprised that the film completed 100 days in theatres, even though it's also available on OTT platforms. During a special event celebrating the film's success, Chopra talked with Vikrant Massey, the movie's star, about their reflections on its journey.
Chopra explained that when the film was released, many people, including his wife Anupama Chopra, thought that no one would watch it in theatres. Some suggested releasing it on OTT platforms instead. His wife was worried that people might not be interested in a movie from him and Vikrant. Trade agencies also predicted a small opening and a lifetime business of only Rs 30 lakhs.
Despite the doubts and challenges, Chopra decided to go ahead with '12th Fail' because he believed in the film. He invested his own money in producing, marketing, and releasing it. Surprisingly, the movie became a hit in 2023, making Rs 67 crore worldwide. This success is remarkable in a time dominated by big-budget action films. The film received critical acclaim, especially for Vikrant Massey's excellent performance
