Waheeda Rehman becomes emotional after winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 69th National Film Awards
Waheeda Rehman, a veteran actress, received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2021 at today's 69th National Film Awards, which took place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu gave the esteemed award. The 85-year-old performer broke down in tears as she was given a standing ovation during the ceremony. She is known for her roles in iconic movies like Gyuide, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Chaudhvin Ka Chaand, and others.
"Honourable Minister Anurag Thakur ji aur saare jury members ka main bahut- bahut shukriyada karti hoon, unhone mukhe award diya," Rehman remarked in her remarks. I feel incredibly humbled and honored. Though it is a small country, there are nevertheless many industries in it. Fortunately, there are plenty of excellent directors, producers, technicians, dialogue writers, music directors, and singers in Mujhe. Just be careful—sabka bahut sahara mila, bahut izzat di, and bahut pyaar diya.
"After all, makeup artists, hair stylists, and costume designers are a great asset," she continued. Basically, the prize is given to the department that has the highest share in the film business.
