Wakhare's statement after reaching his 100th FC games

Akshay Wakhare, the top spinner for Vidarbha, may be approaching a significant milestone in his cricket career in a few days, but he wants to continue doing what he has done for almost 20 years: winning games for Vidarbha.

When the lanky off-spinner plays Uttarakhand in Dehradun on Saturday, he will have played 100 First Class matches. Wakhare, a seasoned spinner, is most likely to play in Vidarbha's third Ranji Trophy game of the year.

As a result, he would join Faiz Fazal (138), Umesh Yadav (124, including Test matches), and Pritam Gandhe (100) as the fourth Vidarbha cricket player to play 100 First Class matches.

Under Harshal Shitoot's captaincy, Wakhare made his Vidarbha debut in 2006 against Kerala at Palakkad. He has since participated in 86 Ranji Trophy, 11 Duleep Trophy, and two Irani Cup games, bringing his total number of First Class appearances to 99. Wakhare is still going strong after taking 326 First Class wickets. "Playing 100 matches (99) was never in my dream," Wakhare stated in an interview from Dehradun.
