Wife Murdered Over False Suspicions; Husband, Brother-in-law in Custody

Nagpur, India: A well-known physiotherapy doctor from Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Dr Archana Rahule, was found murdered at her home in Ladekar Layout, Hudkeshwar. Police have now arrested her husband, Dr Anil Rahule, and his elder brother, Raju Rahule, for the crime.
Dr Anil had first claimed that he had just returned from Raipur, where he works, and found his wife dead after she didn’t answer his calls for two days. But the police grew suspicious. They checked his phone location and found he had secretly visited Nagpur on April 9 — the day Archana was killed.
During questioning, Anil confessed to the crime. He admitted that he and his brother Raju had planned the murder together. The couple had been having problems for months. Archana had even told her sister that Anil used to beat her and threaten her. Anil doubted her character and often got angry when she spoke to colleagues or a lawyer.
Raju also held a grudge against Archana. Their elderly mother had been living with Archana earlier, but Raju had to take her in later. He blamed Archana for not taking care of their mother and encouraged Anil to "teach her a lesson."
On April 9, Dr Anil left the door of the house unlocked and went out. At around 5 pm, Raju entered the house, and both brothers attacked Archana with an iron rod, killing her. They then left the city. After their arrest, both admitted to the crime and said they had planned everything carefully.
Police said Raju tried to avoid being tracked by leaving his phone at home in Sakoli and borrowing someone else’s phone to call his brother. But he was still caught because of other digital clues.
Police investigations also proved that Anil’s doubts about Archana were completely false. She only talked to her husband, son, and colleagues for work. The murder has left the couple’s son, who is studying medicine, in deep shock. With his mother killed and father in jail, he is facing a heartbreaking situation.
The police are now looking for a third person who may have helped in the murder. Both Anil and Raju are in police custody until April 17.
