Will CID Address Legal Loopholes in Ritika Malu's Ram Jhula Case?

Nagpur, India: The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has transferred the Ram Jhula accident case involving Ritika Malu to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The court's decision, announced on August 30, was prompted by complaints from the victims' families regarding the initial investigation by the Tehsil Police.

The accident took place in late February when Ritika Malu, allegedly driving under the influence, crashed her Mercedes-Benz (MH-49-AS-6111) into a motorcycle on Ram Jhula. The collision resulted in the deaths of Mohammad Hussain Ghulam Mustafa, 34, and Mohammed Aatif Ziya, 32. Malu and her friend, Madhuri Sarda, were returning to Wardhaman Nagar from the CP Club when the accident occurred.

Following the incident, Malu was granted bail the next day, which caused frustration among the victims' families, who questioned the thoroughness of the investigation. In response, the High Court has directed the CID to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the events leading up to the fatal accident.
