Will the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship include D Gukesh?
The FIDE will now host the World Rapid and Blitz Championship after the World Chess Championship concludes in Singapore. The competition is scheduled to take place in New York from December 26 (early December 27 in India) to December 31 (early January 1 in India).
After winning the title of youngest world chess champion, D Gukesh has chosen not to participate in the Rapid and Blitz C'ship. He will return to competition the following year.
Magnus Carlsen, the reigning fast and blitz champion, will also compete in the tournament, as will Ding Liren, who was defeated by Gukesh in Singapore.
We shall witness players like Arjun Erigaisi and R Praggananandhaa in action for India in the Open section. In the meantime, athletes like R Vaishali and Koneru Humpy will compete in the women's division.
