Winter Session Annual Political Meeting in Nagpur from December 7
The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) has confirmed the schedule for the Winter Session of the State Legislature in Nagpur. The session is set to start on December 7 and end on December 20, with a total of 14 days and 10 working days. Key figures including Speaker Adv Rahul Narvekar, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, attended the BAC meeting in Mumbai to outline the schedule and put an end to speculations.
The agenda for December 7 involves the presentation of various rules, Additional Demands for 2023-24, and comforting proposals. Government business is scheduled for December 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, and 20, with December 11 and 12 featuring interesting reviews on Supplementary Demands.
On December 12, the Re-appropriation Bill will be presented in both Houses. No business is scheduled for December 9 (Saturday), December 10 (Sunday), December 16 (Saturday), and December 17 (Sunday). Non-Government business, including private bills, is planned for December 8 and 15. The second week, starting December 18 will focus on Government business, the ruling party's resolution, and the last week's resolution. The session is set to conclude on Wednesday, December 20.
While there were speculations about the session starting on December 11, the official announcement clarified the commencement on December 7, which falls on a Thursday. The traditional practice of no business on the first day means that actual proceedings will begin on December 8.
Both Houses will address congratulatory messages for individual achievements and condolence messages for the departed. However, discontent was expressed by some members, including Vijay Wadettiwar, over the session's duration, arguing that only 10 working days were insufficient to discuss key issues.
This session holds significance as potentially the last session of the five-year term for this Government.
