Woman Burns Mother After Past Incident of Killing Grandmother-in-Law
Morshi: A mentally unstable woman named Deepali Panchghare set her mother, Sangeeta, on fire on Friday morning. Sangeeta, 52, suffered 75% burn injuries and is currently in critical condition.
Deepali is the daughter of Vinod Langde and was married to Prateek Panchghare. She has a 4-year-old daughter and an 8-month-old son. For the past few months, she had been living at her father’s house in Yashwant Nagar, Morshi, along with her children.
On Friday morning, Deepali poured petrol on her mother and set her on fire. Neighbours heard Sangeeta’s screams and rushed to help. They took her to the Sub-District Hospital in Morshi. Due to the severity of her burns, she was later shifted to the District General Hospital in Amravati for better treatment.
This is not the first time Deepali has committed such an act. On May 4, 2024, she had poured petrol on her grandmother-in-law and burnt her alive. Since she was pregnant at the time, she received a reduced sentence and was released.
Deepali, who is mentally unstable, is undergoing treatment and has received shock therapy in Amravati. After Friday’s incident, she went to the police station and confessed to the crime. The Morshi Police, led by Inspector Nitin Deshmukh, have taken Deepali into custody. Further investigation is ongoing.
