Woman Gives Birth to Twins on Shalimar Express; One Child Dies
Nagpur, India: In an extraordinary event, a woman gave birth to twins while traveling on the Shalimar Express. The incident took place on the Butibori-Nagpur railway route, leaving passengers and authorities in shock.
Nita Chandesh, a resident of Chhattisgarh, was on her way home with her husband, traveling from Surat to Chhattisgarh. As the train passed through Wardha Railway Station, Nita began experiencing severe labor pains. The situation escalated quickly, prompting immediate assistance from a fellow female passenger and a woman officer of the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
The train authorities alerted Nagpur Railway Station, ensuring a medical team was on standby. Before the train reached Nagpur, Nita delivered her first child onboard. Upon arrival at the station, she was swiftly moved to Mayo Hospital on a stretcher, where the second child was delivered under medical supervision.
Tragically, one of the twins was declared dead at the hospital, while the other was found to be in good health. The incident highlights the prompt response of passengers, railway staff, and medical teams in handling the emergency.
