Nagpur, India- Two police officers from Yashodhara Nagar Police Station have been suspended for extortion. Head Constable Mangesh Lanjewar and Constable Harshad Rahis Shaikh faced disciplinary action following a recent incident.
The officers detained a vehicle involved in illegal LPG refilling and demanded ₹50,000 from the driver to release it. After negotiations, they accepted ₹2,500 and let the driver go. The vehicle owner filed a complaint with senior police officials, prompting an investigation.
The investigation confirmed the officers' involvement in the extortion scheme, leading to their suspension.
